Teen Court of Texarkana
Sentencing Grid
Punishment consists of a specific number of hours of community service and a required number of terms as a Teen Court Juror. The Teen Court Jury assesses community service based on the evidence provided.
A range of hours for each offense is defined by a grid system that is based on the nature of the offense. Sentences range from no less than eight (8) hours to no more than eighty (80) hours of community service, and a required number of jury terms.
Class 1
Offenses include, but are not limited to the following:
Seat belt violation
Equipment violation
Motorcycle violation
Parking citation
Expired driver's license/License restrictions violations
Miscellaneous driving violations
Violation of juvenile curfew ordinance (before 12:30 am)
Park curfew violation (before 11 pm) |
8-16 Hours
Community Service
1 Jury Term
20 days from court date to complete community service |
Class 2
Offenses include, but are not limited to the following:
Speeding 1-15 miles per hour over the speed limit
Failure to yield right of way (no accident)
No driver's license
Failure to stop at red light/stop sign
Parking in handicapped space/fire lane
Park curfew violation (after 11 pm)
Violation of juvenile curfew ordinance (after 12:30 am)
Daytime curfew violation
Violations of parking lot ordinance/Loitering |
17-32 Hours Community Service
2 Jury Terms
30 days from court date to complete community service |
Class 3
Offenses include but are not limited to the following:
Speeding 16-24 miles per hour over the limit
Speeding 1-9 miles over limit in school zone
Failure to identify self
Littering
Minor in possession of tobacco
Anti-noise violation/spinning tires
No proof of financial responsibility (no insurance)

33-48 Hours Community Service
3 Jury Terms
45 days from court date to complete community service

Class 4
Offenses include but are not limited to the following:
Speeding 10 or more miles per hour over the limit in school zone
Traffic accident violations
Disorderly conduct
Disruption of classes/transportation
Theft under $50
Vandalism/criminal mischief under $50
Failure to attend school |
49-64 Hours Community Service
4 Jury Terms
60 days from court date to complete community service |
Class 5
Offenses include but are not limited to the following:
Speeding 25 or more miles per hour over the limit
Driving under the influence of alcohol
Public intoxication
Minor in possession of alcohol
Attempted theft over $50/under $500
Assault |
65-80 Hours Community Service
